Time: 15–20 min

What you need: your syllabus

How to do it:

  1. Choose a tool that you want to use:
    1. Open TerpAI and sign in with your UMD Google account, OR
    2. Open NotebookLM and sign in with your UMD Google account.
  2. Upload (NotebookLM) or paste (TerpAI) your syllabus into the tool.
  3. Paste the prompt below.

"Using the OSCQR standards 29-32, analyze this syllabus for how well the course: (1) uses a variety of engaging resources to present content and support interaction; (2) includes activities that promote higher-order thinking, such as critical reflection and analysis; (3) incorporates real-world or applied learning experiences, such as case studies or problem-based learning; and (4) uses open, free, or low-cost materials where possible. Where are there gaps, and what specific improvements would strengthen alignment with these criteria?"

Notes:

This analysis is limited to what is explicitly described in your syllabus. It may not capture instructional practices, informal interactions, or learning activities that are not documented.
