Sarah Kistner is the Learning Skills Coordinator with the Teaching and Learning Transformation Team, where she designs and facilitates workshops, provides academic coaching, and develops learning expereinces that support student success and well-being. Her work is grounded in the belief that learning is most effective when guided by a growth mindset, active engagement, and a holistic, student-centered approach. She is passionate about helping students build confidence, strengthen learning strategies, and develop sustainable habits that support both academic success and personal well-being. Sarah strives to create inclusive learning environments that encourage reflection, student agency, and lifelong learning.
She holds a B.A. in International Studies and Spanish from Shippensburg University and a M.A. in International Education Policy from the University of Maryland, where she is currently pursuing her Ph.D. in International Education Policy. Her academic background focuses on inclusive teaching practices, learning about learning, and contemplative and holistic approaches that promote equitable learning environments and student success. Before joining the team full-time, Sarah worked as a Graduate Assistant supporting workshops and student learning initiatives focused on learning about learning, and taught in K–12 classrooms in the U.S. and internationally.
When she isn’t working, Sarah enjoys spending time with family and friends, exploring new coffee shops in DC, reading, and riding her bike through Rock Creek Park.
