Teaching Portfolio Workshops for Faculty
Join colleagues, TLTC, and Faculty Affairs for interactive workshops on how to document and present your teaching contribution, student impact, and mentorship in your teaching portfolio (now required in the appointment, promotion, and tenure process). Bring your questions and a laptop to test out some templates we made. These workshops are offered multiple times throughout the year. Check back soon for our winter and spring workshop dates. Teaching Portfolio Retreats for Graduate Students
If you plan to teach at the university level, you will likely need a teaching philosophy statement and a teaching portfolio. Join members of the TLTC staff, The Graduate School Writing Center, and fellow graduate students in a three-day retreat, sponsored by the Graduate School. Receive instruction and support in preparing your philosophy of teaching statement and developing your teaching portfolio by:
- Learning about components of and expectations for teaching portfolio documents;
- Reflecting on teaching practices and pedagogy;
- Working with a focused learning community;
- Accessing extensive resources and materials;
- Utilizing dedicated work time and enjoying delicious meals; and
- Engaging in discussions and peer-review with other graduate students and consultants
This is a unique opportunity for all graduate students who have taught at least two semesters or anticipate entering the job market within the next two years. Retreats are free of charge for graduate students and are held annually in mid-January and mid-June.
